Can we all take a moment to acknowledge how counter-productive the mentality that fat people “could skip a couple meals”? Not only does it encourage eating disorders, but it also could make a person *gain* weight. Every time I hear someone say that they’ve been told to just eat less or not eat at all for a bit, I laugh at their ignorance. When you go for long periods of time without eating you actually encourage your metabolism to slow down, so the next time you eat, it’s not as easy for your body to break down the nutrients. Basically, no matter how much you eat, your metabolism will do its best to break down all your nutrients and it will try and match how often you eat.
