This is Thin Privilege

[tw: violence, fat hate]
Thin privilege is my naturally thin father defacing a recipe book simply because it has a picture of a fat woman holding a cake on the cover.
Thin privilege is my family visiting the café owned by the author of said recipe book and my brother saying loudly “you know, if I set off a bomb right now and killed all the people in this café it would spare many lives”.  Thin privilege is him and my father then spending the rest of the visit speculating over whether they’d “save” more people from the “obesity epidemic” if they blew up that café or a fast food chain like McDonald’s.
Thin (and male) privilege is my father and brother making comments like this every day and then remarking that they “simply don’t understand” why anyone would ever “want to” develop an eating disorder.

They’re also crazy. Who thinks making remarks about what amounts to domestic terrorism is funny or acceptable?
